The pattern
Most of the sites we take over have the same history. The build worked for two or three years. Then an update broke something, a new requirement meant rebuilding half the site, and the developer who wrote it stopped answering email. So the owner interviews agencies for the second or third time, and the usual advice is to start from scratch.
No one should have to hire three agencies in ten years to keep their website running.
What we do
Laravel/Vue comes first because that's where the custom platforms go: SaaS, internal tools, products that outgrow a CMS. WordPress done properly sits next to it, not below it. It is most of what we maintain, and it is built the same way.
Production SaaS, internal tools and the platforms that off-the-shelf software can't handle. We scope against your Figma or spec and write the code so that whoever inherits it can read it. Xcruiter, a recruitment platform we took over in 2023, has been running and growing on the same codebase since.
A custom theme, a short and version-locked plugin list (ACF, WooCommerce, CF7 and a few more) and no page-builder. Your editors keep the CMS they know and the site doesn't need a rebuild every three years. Jølstad's funeral planner has run on WordPress and a custom plugin since 2016, Agrosec's product catalogue since 2018, and neither has needed a rebuild.
WooCommerce when WordPress is the right home for the shop, custom Laravel when it isn't. Custom themes, B2B catalogues and multi-warehouse stock are the usual work, and the build is sized for the next five years of orders. The La Danse store we built in 2015 is still selling dancewear on the same codebase.
How it goes
The scope is written down before we start, and there is no separate discovery fee, no mandatory workshop series and no handover to another team afterwards. The person who scopes the work builds it and stays on it.
A Figma file, a spec, a broken site or a one-page description of the problem is enough to start. Within a week you hear whether this is work for us. If it is, you get a written scope with a fixed price, usually within another week. If the plan is vague, we ask until it isn't.
Custom code or a custom theme, built to the written scope. Design changes get two rounds, fixed in the contract, so the build doesn't drift into next year, and you see the result on a test site before anything goes live.
The senior who built it answers your email in year five, with no ticket queue and no maintenance department in between. Updates and migrations are scoped in advance and land inside the maintenance hours, so the platform doesn't drift out of support and into an emergency rewrite.

A multi-tenant recruitment platform for a Norwegian client, taken over in 2023.
Xcruiter came to us in 2023 as a running platform built by someone else. We rebuilt the parts that cost the client every month and have shipped on the same codebase since: the candidate pipeline, two-way sync with the ATS systems its market runs on, and a portal the client's customers log into.
